IRIS' SAMPLE PROCESSING DIVISION EXPANDS PRODUCT LINE WITH LAUNCH OF STATSPIN® EXPRESS 4 CENTRIFUGE FOR HOSPITAL AND REFERENCE LABORATORIES

Product line extension enables entry into high volume clinical chemistry market

CHATSWORTH, Calif., Nov 2, 2007 - IRIS International, Inc. (NASDAQ GM: IRIS) a manufacturer and marketer of automated IVD urinalysis systems and medical devices used in hospitals and reference clinical laboratories worldwide, today announced that its Sample Processing Division has initiated shipments of its new, high speed, horizontal centrifuge, the StatSpin® Express 4.

The StatSpin® Express 4 addresses the increasing demand facing hospital laboratories for more efficient sample processing and rapid turnaround of patient results. It employs a unique horizontal rotor for separating gel tubes in just minutes and replaces larger and slower, batch centrifuges by reducing sample preparation time and streamlining laboratory workflow. This new product platform enables Iris Sample Processing entry into the high volume chemistry test market and further application expansion in blood and body fluids.

The StatSpin® Express 4 is an essential tool for laboratories to meet their "Lean" initiatives, a rapidly growing trend in the clinical chemistry laboratory. Lean processing is defined as the elimination of non-value added steps in the process such as batching and waiting for samples to be processed. With the StatSpin® Express 4, laboratories can "go lean" reducing labor while improving workflow and turnaround time. This rugged unit is designed to handle the demands of central chemistry laboratories where hundreds of runs per day are required.

"Samples can be processed as they arrive in the laboratory; no need for batching, no unproductive time waiting for the completion of a long centrifugation cycle. With the Express 4 workflow is streamlined and samples move quickly to the analyzer resulting in faster turnaround of patient results," said Robert Mello, President of Iris Sample Processing. "In just 3 minutes the Express 4 can produce serum or plasma equal to that spun for 10 minutes or more in conventional horizontal centrifuges."

"Our current models, the StatSpin Express 2 & 3, have been leaders in the rapid sample processing area for many years," said Pamela Pasakarnis, Vice President, Sales and Marketing. "We will continue to market the Statspin Express 2 to smaller laboratories which do fewer samples and the StatSpin Express 3 to laboratories requiring rapid sample processing for cardiac markers and other routine tests," noted Ms. Pasakarnis.

"We are pleased to have met our goal of launching this new product in the fourth quarter of 2007," stated IRIS President and Chief Executive Officer César García. "The StatSpin Express 4 will expand and strengthen our leadership position in the rapid sample processing area. This new product design will be used as a platform to launch new applications based on our proven centrifugation technology."
