— IRIS International, Inc. (NASDAQ: IRIS)
a manufacturer and marketer of automated IVD urinalysis systems and medical devices used in hospitals and clinical reference laboratories worldwide, announced today
that its Iris Diagnostics division has shipped the first new iQ®200 ELITE™ Urine Microscopy Analyzers with new Software Version 5.0. The
iQ®200 ELITE™ is the first of a series of three new iQ®200 Analyzers to be shipped under the Company's new market
segmentation initiative and comprehensive product line expansion, which launched in July at the AACC Expo in Chicago.
"The introduction of the new series of iQ®200 urine microscopy analyzers allows the Company to greater penetrate
the total available market of 6,500 sites globally, from small hospitals to high volume commercial reference laboratories," stated IRIS President and Chief
Executive Officer César García. "The new iQ®200 ELITE™, which performs 70 tests per hour, advances and replaces the current
iQ®200 Analyzer and further reinforces Iris Diagnostics as a premier provider of innovative and cost-effective microscopy solutions for medium-sized
hospitals. Meanwhile, the new iQ®200 SELECT™, with a throughput of 40 tests per hour targeting smaller facilities, and the new and enhanced
iQ®200 SPRINT™, with a throughput of 101 tests per hour serving the needs of high volume hospital and commercial lab markets, have also been
released for sale. Taken together, we believe the iQ®200 series of analyzers is the most extensive and most competitive urinalysis product offering
in the world."
The iQ®200 ELITE™ Analyzer with new Software Version 5.0 contains more than 60 significant improvements in
clinical utility and ease of use, including a new category for dysmorphic red blood cells, new quality control features for body fluids analysis and a new touch
screen monitor for ease of use. Software Version 5.0 is included in all of the new iQ®200 models and can be used to upgrade iQ®200s
already at customer sites. The new software adds three new languages: Chinese, Turkish, and Greek, to better serve those important and growing markets.
